Buckeye Local Schools Transportation Department Information
In an attempt to improve communications with parents, students and staff we are utilizing the Remind notification system. Remind is a free, safe and easytouse communication tool that is intended to assist our Transportation Department to instantly alert parents, students and staff with oneway text messaging.
The Remind notification system will not take the place of school messenger which was used to deliver this message to you. Remind will be an additional communication tool and will hopefully communicate when our busses are running late for pickup and/or dropoff.
It is easy to sign up! Using the directions below, sign up using one or more telephones. We will not share your information. You should begin receiving confirmation upon successfully texting the code below.
To receive messages via text, text @g28e7 to 81010. You can optout of messages at any time by replying ‘unsubscribe@g28e7’.
If you have any questions please contact Judy Eblen at 3307225793. Extension 1020. Thank you.

A message from the Principal
Welcome! My name is Rich Finley and I am the principal at Buckeye Intermediate School. I am extremely thrilled and privileged to be in charge of your child’s educational experience while he/she is in preschool or is in the grades 4, 5 or 6. As your child’s principal, it is my top priority to get to know each and every one of our more than 600 students. Developing a positive relationship with our students, and with our parents, is what I believe is most essential to creating an outstanding learning environment that is safe and inviting to our students and families. Buckeye is a tight-knit community with generous and kind people & I feel Buckeye Intermediate School is a reflection of that community. Buckeye Intermediate School is the bridge between the Primary School & Buckeye Jr. High School. It is our hope that students at B.I.S. learn the value of making good decisions, continue to develop into responsible boys & girls, & achieve academically at the highest levels possible. Your child will be served by a very caring, highly qualified staff who loves working with children. They will help provide the guidance necessary to help them reach their full potential. If you have any questions or concerns, my office door is open. Please stop by or call me at 330-722-8257 ext. 4342. Or if you prefer, e-mail me at email@example.com.
What’s Happening in the 2016-17 School Year:
- "2 to 1" initiative expands into 4th grade: This school year our 4th graders will have the opportunity to utilize Chrome Book lap top computers on a daily basis in their classrooms! We strive for our students to be 21st century learners, and by the use of these devices, they will be exposed to differentiated learning for all varied learning styles and abilities.
- New staff members: I am pleased to announce some new staff for the 2016-17 school year. Mrs. Lemmeyer (5th grade); Ms. Wray (Sp. Education); Ms. Zablotny (Guidance); Mrs. Nunn (6th grade); Mr. McMullen (Tutor), Mrs. Caniglia (classroom para-pro), Mrs Comuzie (Office), Mrs. Doty (Technology Coordinator) & Mrs. DeGioia (5th Grade) . All of our new staff have valuable experience in education & with working with young people. They will prove to be a very positive influence for our kids and our school building! Welcome!!
- Standardized testing: This school year our students in grades 4 through 6 will be taking their online math, language arts, science and social studies tests during one testing window from April 6 through April 28, 2017.
OVER A DECADE OF EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION - 10 + years Buckeye Local Schools rated as either "Excellent" or received an 'A' grade from the State of Ohio!
Please reinforce our “Buckeye Basics” at home.
- BE RESPECTFUL
- BE RESPONSIBLE
- BE A PROBLEM SOLVER
Students earn “Bucks” for their good behavior and can spend them for reward assemblies, school supplies from our school store, or to get a chance to have "lunch with the principal".
As parent-teacher conferences approach, look for your child’s Aimsweb report. All students are benchmarked three times per year in reading and math computations to make sure they are on track. Aimsweb generates a report for each student and it graphs their progress.
